Winner of the Venice Film Festival’s Golden Lion.
Oscar and BAFTA-winning filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar’s (All About My Mother, Pain and Glory) latest film (and his first English languagre feature) is adapted from Sigrid Nunez’s prize-winning bestselling novel ‘What Are You Going Through’, bringing together two powerhouse performers in Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore, underpinning the director’s usual striking visuals and rich, emotive storytelling.
Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) are two old friends. Having worked at the same New York magazine in their youth, they’ve long lost touch with each other. Ingrid, now an established novelist and Martha, a war journalist, are brought back together when Martha calls up her old friend to break some terrible news.
Compelled to Martha’s side, Ingrid begins to reconnect with her through their reflection of their missed years together and their relationship with their shared ex (played by John Turturro – The Big Lebowski).
