Palace Cinema Volunteer Ushers: April-Sept 202615

Volunteer Ushers support cinema staff to ensure that film screenings run smoothly for all audience members. We are looking for people who know the Palace, love all kinds of film and would enjoy working with the public as part of a small team.

Since we launched the Palace Volunteer Usher scheme in 2023, ushers have included members of the local community from a wide range of backgrounds, from teenagers to people in their seventies, and we continue to welcome anyone who might like to give it a go! We have 5 places available over April-Sept 2026 with the possibility of extending to Jan 2027; so few places are available as we’re only open 4 days a week and still work with ushers from previous recruitment rounds.

Volunteers will be asked to do 2 shifts per month, each approx 3 hours, afternoon or evening.

How to apply

  • The application form is online here and paper copies are available from the Palace box office (Tues, Fri-Sun, c.4-9pm).
  • The form has 10 questions: The first 5 cover the role and responsibilities of Volunteer Ushers, the last 5 are about you.
  • The deadline for applications is Sunday 15 March. All applicants, successful or not, will be contacted on Tues 17 March.

Please note!

Applicants must be available to attend a 60min group training session at the Palace on either Fri 20 March at 5.45pm or Sat 21 March at 11.45am.

We look forward to hearing from you!
