A welcome return to the Palace for everyone’s favourite marmalade sandwich loving bear! A visit to his Aunt Lucy in Peru becomes a thrilling quest to unravel a mystery which only he and the Browns can solve.
Happily at home in Windsor Gardens with the Brown family, one day Paddington (Ben Whishaw) receives a letter about his Aunt Lucy (Imelda Staunton). She lives in Peru at the Home for Retired Bears, and the Reverend Mother (Olivia Colman) who runs it tells Paddington that his aunt misses him very much. He’d love to visit her to cheer her up, and, after a fair bit of persuasion, Mr Brown (Hugh Bonneville) agrees to a family trip.
But when they arrive, Aunt Lucy is nowhere to be seen! Paddington and the Browns are determined to find her, and fortunately for them a handsome and charming riverboat captain Hunter Cabot (Antonio Banderas) is there to help. They leap into an unexpected adventure, through the Amazon rainforest and up mountain peaks, in which Paddington’s bravery, ingenuity and particular knack for finding friends and imaginative solutions is just the ticket. And in moments when he’s disheartened he remembers the wise words his aunt used to comfort him as a young bear, “When skies are grey, hope is the only way…”
A wonderful third film in the series (the fourth is already being written!), Paddington in Peru brings together cast characters and members new and old, including beloved Mrs Bird (Julie Walters) and Mr Gruber (Jim Broadbent), in a gorgeous spirit of fun and friendship perfect for the Christmas season.
