Ever since the cinema opened in 1965 it has been an important part of the community year-round, not only as a place to visit for an afternoon or a night out or for a special event, but a place for residents to make use of as a local venue for them.
The Palace is glad to hire to education and community groups and support them to deliver wonderful screenings and events. Please see Palace Cinema Broadstairs – Hires [Link to pdf] and contact us to discuss your idea.
‘People’s Palace Community Hires’
For local groups considering hiring the Palace to fundraise for their chosen charity or cause, we offer the chance to make use of one of our 3-4 ‘People’s Palace Community Hires’ each year. These hires are supported by the proceeds of cinema poster sales, which contribute towards the Palace’s overheads (services, staffing, admin, tech etc) and mean that we can offer them at a significantly lower hire rate.
To be eligible to apply, your group must be a charity, established non-profit and/or community focussed. We’re happy to receive applications from all, particularly events organised in collaboration with local young people, or which directly support local community groups and initiatives. Please note that we require a minimum of 2 months’ notice before a hire and also that they’re availability depends on funds available.
Like to apply? Please email us here with answers to these questions. Thank you.
Education
We welcome school and youth groups to the Palace in term time and throughout the year for private screenings.
For an overview of what’s available, please see Palace Cinema Broadstairs – Education hires [link to pdf]. We’re happy to discuss your requirements, whether you’re looking to kick off a topic with an inspirational local visit, offer an end of term reward screening, or enjoy student coursework on the big screen with surround sound! We also welcome independent youth groups to make use of the Palace for their regular activities or special events. We are a local venue for the UK-wide schools’ Into Film Festival for 5-19s in November.
Depending on the nature of your hire, education rates start at £150 + VAT. We can also provide a Risk Assessment guide for school and youth groups at the cinema, and pre-packed snack packs or other cinema treats.
We’re happy to discuss what would work for you! Please contact us with details of your school or youth group request.
