Cinema Walk: CliftonvilleU

Cliftonville has been filled with places to see a film since the dawn of moving pictures! Join us at Margate Film Festival 2026 to discover them all, in person and on foot.

This Cinema Walk explores and celebrates everywhere to have shown films on the seafront and around Northdown Road, from converted shops to glorious picture palaces, from buildings still standing to those of which all flickering traces are long gone. Including local social history, cinema makers past and present, archive images and film events happening next week, visit Cliftonville’s love for the sights, sounds and sensations of film from the 1900s to today.

Cinema Walks are part of the Palace Cinema’s occasional events programme exploring the local film heritage of Broadstairs, Margate and Ramsgate.

Route – The Cinema Walk covers the seafront between the Oval and Lido and Northdown Road between Sweyn Road and Wyndham Avenue. Please contact the Palace in advance to check if the route is suitable for you / your group. Free places are offered to carers accompanying those with a disability.

Health & Safety – By agreeing to participate in a Cinema Walk, all participants are agreeing to listen to safety instructions and exercise due care and attention whilst walking.

Weather – Cinema Walks offer only partial protection from the weather in brief stops on the route. In the event of weather bad enough to prevent the Walk taking place, ticket holders can switch to a future date or be refunded in full.
